Diabetes is a disease that affects your body’s ability to produce or use Insulin. Diabetes is actually a common hormonal problem that if untreated can lead to diabetes complications. At advance stages diabetes can lead to kidney failure, blindness and stroke, however, these complications can be prevented too by taking good care of yourself.
There are 2 main types of diabetes:
1- Type 1 diabetes (Insulin dependent)
2- Type 2 diabetes (Non-insulin dependent)
People who have Type 1 diabetes are bound to take Insulin and these type of people have a very severe diabetes but they need to consult from their health doctor that what type of insulin they have to use whereas people who have Type 2 diabetes don’t need to take Insulin they can cure themselves by precautions.
1- Diabetes is a long-term condition that causes high blood sugar level.
2- In 2013 it was estimated that over 382 million people throughout the world had diabetes.
3- The most common diabetes symptoms include frequent urination, intense thirst, hunger, weight gain, unusual weight loss, fatigue, cuts that do not heal.
4- If you have Type1 diabetes and you follow a healthy eating plan than do exercise and take insulin, you can lead a normal life.
5- If you have Type2 diabetes than you need to eat healthily, be physically active, and test your blood glucose.
6- Blood pressure and cholesterol levels should be monitored regularly because the risk of cardiovascular disease is much high in diabetic patients.
7- If you are a diabetic patient then it’s very necessary to quit smoking.
Obesity is the main reason for diabetes and obesity is very common throughout the world. As per international standards, more than 76.2 % of the Pakistani’s were found to be overweight. Heart attacks, stroke, renal failure, blindness and many other diseases are the results of diabetes and thousands of people are dying due to these diseases.Diabetes can also be inherited from parents or from any blood relation. If you have a diabetic patient in your family then chances of diabetes become high.
Of every problem there is a solution too, We can prevent ourselves from this deadly disease. If obesity is the main reason of diabetes than try to eat healthy food, in order to reduce obesity exercise is very important, with daily exercise we can prevent this diabetes even if it is in your blood relation still you can prevent yourself eat less and healthy food, students should be forced to take part in their sports activities which will make them fit.
Today on 14th November is a World diabetes Day, This day is observed to raise global awareness of the disease and how to prevent it. Number of people are tweeting on twitter about diabetes and it’s precautions.
